We are only accepting enrollments for online courses at this moments.

Starting this spring, Honolulu Nails & Aesthetics Academy (HNA) is excited to begin offering its new training course to provide instruction on the art and science of semi-permanent makeup. Our course will cover techniques and practices from the beginner stage teaching basic skills and proficiencies, and progressing to the advanced professional level instructing the student on innovative and sophisticated methodologies and technologies in the art of semi-permanent makeup.

HNA recognizes that in recent years, the art of semi-permanent makeup has evolved to embrace technologies for anti-aging and facial image improvement. This is a fresh and innovative class that will provide you with training in state-of-the-art and advanced practices and methods.

HNA is proud to announce that the instructor of this course is Yumi Matsuno from Japan, owner and operator of Artmake Yumi, which has celebrated 11 years as the preeminent specialty shop for semi-permanent natural look makeup in Hawaii. Yumi has lived here in Hawaii since 1993 and until 2008 worked as a dental assistant. In 2002, Yumi became intrigued with semi-permanent makeup art and decided to pursue her interest by obtaining training in Japan, acquiring proficiency in the best cosmetic makeup technology skills and artistic abilities, with a focus on enhancing the unique facial qualities of each person to bring out the natural beauty for a younger, more vibrant appearance. Yumi’s training culminated in a diploma reflecting her extraordinary skills and artistic ability.

In 2004, upon returning to Hawaii, Yumi obtained the State of Hawaii tattoo artist’s license enabling her to offer semi-permanent makeup services in our State. Always seeking to enhance her skills and abilities, Yumi traveled to Hollywood in 2008 to study under a renowned tattoo artist. Then, in June 2008, she opened Artmake Yumi, providing her artistic expertise for more than 13,000 treatments since then.

HNA’s newest program is designed to provide instruction in the art of semi-permanent makeup with the goal of obtaining a State of Hawaii tattoo artist’s license.
